Become an Empower Oakland Member

By becoming a volunteer member with Empower Oakland, you’ll gain the knowledge and community to turn your interest in Oakland’s future into action, and help build the thriving Oakland we know is within reach. You’ll have opportunities to connect hyper-locally and foster a community of purpose with neighbors and friends. You’ll deepen your understanding of barriers to progress in Oakland and explore pragmatic solutions to our most pressing issues. Together, we’ll learn from subject matter experts and each other, take action, and drive Oakland’s comeback.

 

Community and Connections 

An important goal for Empower Oakland is to foster to connect people from all parts of our city who care about an Oakland that works for us all. Some of the ways we do this:

• Happy Hours and social events with our members and other local groups
• In-person and online “learning sessions” with local leaders and experts in policy, governance, and community organizing
• Active online community discussions about important topics like education, public safety, and hyperlocal conversations about different parts of the city.
